Training for Fitness & Competition
Whether your vibe is chlorine or salt, we have you covered! Our squad sessions focus on all aspects of swimming, will get you fit, and if competing is your thing, we’ll ensure you have the skills and technique to nail your events!
Swimming Events
Choose your own adventure – we offer options for everyone! You can join in at pool competitions, open water events, team events such as the MS Mega Swim, and fun, encouraging swim challenges. Any, all, or none – it’s your choice!
Community & Social Connection
At the Roughies, the lanes are only part of the story. We’re a welcoming mix of ages, backgrounds, and life experiences — from long-time locals to new arrivals from interstate and overseas. Many of our members joined not just to swim, but to find friendship, connection, and a place to belong. Whether you’re chasing a personal best or simply want to share a laugh poolside, you’ll find a supportive, vibrant community here that makes every session feel like coming home.

Our members come from all walks of life, and we celebrate that diversity. We’re committed to offering a rich variety of squads, events, and social activities so every member can find their place, their people, and their own path in the water.
Genuinely Age Diverse
With half our members aged 35 or younger, the Roughies is the place to keep swimming through your 20s and 30s.
We value the diversity of our members and design programs that reflect different goals, interests, and needs. At Yarra Roughies, we create programs that speak to younger swimmers as well as to the broader age-diverse community that makes up our club.
