Who We Are
Yarra Roughies are a masters swimming club based at Fitzroy Swimming Pool. We’ll help you get fitter and faster, and offer you plenty of opportunities to train, compete and get social with our friendly squad.
If you can swim 400m of freestyle comfortably, and cover at least 1km when you go to the pool, you’ve got what it takes to be a Roughie.
We run Squad Training sessions on Saturdays, Yarra Leisure run SwimFit sessions mornings and evenings throughout the week, and we are affliated with Masters Swimming Australia. We are a tightnit club of swimmers for fitness, pool competitions and open water events.
Our mascot is the Roughy – a brightly coloured fish that can live for 150 years. Like us, it lives in the deep water and enjoys a good life.
We’re run by a group of volunteers; dedicated swimmers that train at Fitzroy pool. Just like our members, the Yarra Roughies committee swim to keep fit and compete, as well as enjoying barbies on the poolside and year-round brunches.
