Who We Are

The Yarra Roughies is a swim club based at Fitzroy pool. We’ll help you get fitter and faster, and offer you plenty of opportunities to train, compete and get social with our friendly squad.

If you can swim 400m of freestyle comfortably, and cover at least 1km when you go to the pool, you’ve got what it takes to be a Roughie.

About Us

We’re partnered with Yarra Leisure and are members of Masters Swimming Australia. Both organisations offer us fantastic support as we build our diverse swim community in Fitzroy. We currently have around 40 members, and are growing fast.

Our mascot is the roughy – a brightly coloured fish that can live for 150 years. Like us, it lives in the deep water and enjoys a good life.

We’re run by a group of volunteers, dedicated swimmers that train at Fitzroy pool. Just like our members, the Yarra Roughies committee swim to keep fit and compete, as well as get stuck into barbies on the poolside and year-round brunches.
